I'm trying to import my email messages from my Earthlink account into Outlook
2003 so that I can then import them into Windows Mail because I just bought a
computer with Vista on it.  However, when I try to import the .csv file
Outlook gives me an error message "a file error occurred in the Comma
Separated Values (Windows) translator while initializing a translator to
build a field map."  Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?j

From what I've read, this usually is the result of an improperly formatted
.CSV file:

Exporting an AOL Address Book into Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express

FWIW, Outlook 2003 runs just fine under Vista and has many more features
than Windows Mail.  Why not install it on Vista and keep using it?

why not just connect to the acct using pop?

are you importing the messages from a CSV or the address book?

The address book imported like gangbusters with the Easy Transfer function.
However, after spending numerous hours online with folks from Earthlink and
Dell no one seems to be able to figure out a way to either import the
Earthlink messages into either Outlook or Windows Mail.  I tried importing
the messages as a .csv file into Outlook numerous times but I kept getting an
error message.
