I have been attempting to us Outlook with my gmail account.  However, I am
receiving this error message:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject '', Account: 'home', Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol:
SMTP, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

Please help.

You must activate this feature at the Gmail site before Outlook can collect
the mail. And you must have the correct server ports--you have them
backwards. 995 is the POP server, while SMTP is 465 and you must select the
option "this requires a secure connection." Go to the Gmail support site and
follow the instructions there.

On your G-Mail site, you first have to tell it that you are going to use
POP3, then there are very clear instructions including screen shots on
how to set it up.  Note the critical following in your Outlook setup
under ADVANCED Tab

Incoming POP3 server Port is 995 and it requires a tick in the SSL box

Outgoing smtp server must be port 587 (you may have these two port
numbers mixed??)
Encrypt the connection using TLS from the drop down box

Note also the USER NAME is not the full E-mail address (no @)
