I have used Powerpoint 2003's help file to no avail so maybe someone here
can help me.

I have Office 2003.  I would like to create a slide show in Powerpoint.
That I know how to do.  My question is, how can I add sound to the
slideshow?  What I would like to have happen (if possible) is the following:

1) I have created a slide show.  When you start it, the first slide appears
and stays on the screen for 3 seconds and then fades out and a new image
comes onto the screen.  It stays there for 3 seconds and then fades out and
another new image comes onto the screen for 3 seconds and on and on.  There
are about 30 slides.  The slideshow takes 1 and 1/2 minutes to complete.
2) When people start the slideshow I would like a .wav song to play
throughout the slideshow.  How can I get the song or file to play
automatically as soon as the slide show begins?

Thank you in advance for any help given!!!!!

there is also a setting for HOW LONG TO PLAY - ie. play for how many slides -

normally, it will STOP on the next slide - change that setting and give it a number that's larger than the number of slides in your show and it will play till the en

Play sounds across multiple slides (A WAV runs through it)

Can I ask what keywords you were searching on in PPT's Help? I'd like to
kick that info to the team who creates that content so that this topic is
easier to find in future.
