I can't remember what PPT Central was all about, but you might want to try

the "PowerPoint home page."

It appears to be a special protected PPS file that is installed with PowerPoint
97. It can be accessed/opened by clicking on an item on the Tools menu. It's a
kind of magazine of stuff related to PowerPoint 97. I guess you could equate it
with an aged Office Online.

If you've upgraded to PowerPoint 2003, go to Help > Microsoft Office Offline for
all the latest news, downloads, etc.
