I am creating a presentation to be put onto a CD and then distributed to
other companies. I have linked a list of files to the CD but the drive name
for my CD-Rom drive is different then others where as my drive name is D:\
others might be F:\ or E:\, so this causes the files to not open when i place
the CD in another computer is there anything that I can do to make this work.

Yes.  When creating your presentation, first put all of the files in a single
folder.  Start your presentation and save it to the folder.  Then proceed to add
your links, etc.  Never link to a file that is not already in the folder.  This
will ensure that your links are "relative" to the location of the presentation,
i.e., same folder.

Since you've already built the presentation, you'll need to gather everything to
a single folder and then delete and re-insert all of the links.

Sonia,
But if i do that will the files still open on a computer other then the one
where the files are stored this CD is goin to be given to Insurance companies
with links to forms on a slide where you click the link and it opens the
file. If the file is saved on my computer it will open but these files will
not be saved to someone elses computer will it still open or is this a
hopeless attempt. the problem i had was that the link name started with D:\
which is the name of my CD-RW drive but other computers CD drive might not
have this name therefore the files were not found.Thnks for the response.

If you do as I described, the links will be "relative" to the location of the
presentation.  If the presentation is on a CD in someone's X: drive, PowerPoint
will look for the linked file on the X: drive because that's where the
presentation is.  The link that I gave you explains this in more detail, but
trust me - - it works.
