movie file won't play - just turns white

I have several mpg files in my presentation. I have them and the powerpoint
presentation in 1 folder. The client just sent me another mpg (came with
extension mpeg) and it will not play in powerpoint. In slide show the box
turns white and thats it. I can play it in the windows player. All of the
others work fine.

Any suggestions?

What version of PowerPoint and what version of Windows are you running? What is
the length in characters of the full path to the mpg file?

As the "white box" in place of video is normally an indication of tooooo long a path length
