This only works in 2002 or 2003. When you set up the animation, do what
you would normally do. Then click the down arrow next to the shape in the
list of custom animations and choose Timing. Click on the Triggers
button. Choose Start Effect on Click of, and choose the button you want
to trigger that animation.

You're a life saver!! Thanks so much. Now if MS would only give us the option
to reset these animations when ever you come back to the slide. This 'blank
slide' workaround is a pain.
