I am making a video using a video of my family's vacation using my difital
camcorder.  At the beginning of the movie I wanted to put an old looking
movie countdown (the number in the gray circle with the rotating arm), so i
made a powerpoint presentation (version XP) of it with sound effects and
everything.  I want to find a way to insert this into my video, hopefully
just as another video clip.
Please help.

Wouldn't it be easier to use one of those existing movie countdown movies
and insert that into the existing movie (assuming that you have some video
editing software)?

Interestingly enough, I needed to find one of these things just a couple of
weeks ago, so I asked some colleagues on another newsgroup. Here are a
couple of links. Beware of copyright issues if you decide to use these.

and then answer No, I don't have VAMP)

And just as a matter of interest, this is apparently called a "universal
leader." Amazing what you can learn on the web, isn't it? :-)

Oh, back to the PPT video thing. There's not like a button you can press to
save a PPT file as a video on the PC side. Mac PPT will do this, though. (At
least the latest versions will.) See here for some additional options:

See http://www.powerpointbackgrounds.com/powerpoint-to-dvd.htm for how to
capture to video format.
