avi files in powerpoint

I have Windows Media Player .avi files imported into Powerpoint 2003. These
files run much slower and are staggered in animation rather than smooth. They
are fine in Windows Media Player. Could someone help me please

I am collecting video files that fail to play, or don't play well in PPT.
