Hi All,
I've bumped into an interesting situation - I need to translate text in
embedded linked worksheet/charg object, but I do not have the source files.
Has anybode heard of any way of 'reverse-engineer' an embedded linked
object, i.e., create an excel/word/chart/etc file with the data in these
objects?
I would think this is possible since if one ungroups these objects, they are
broken up into umpteen shapes, where some have the objects data (text,
numbers, etc).
Is putting new textboxes over the old text the only [inelegant] way? Food
for thought...

You can have embedded OR linked but not both.
If the worksheet is embedded, then this should work:
Extracting Excel content from PowerPoint

If it's linked and the linked files aren't available, then all you have is a
Windows Metafile *picture* of the data. As you've noticed, you can ungroup
that and edit the bits, but that's about as satisfying as kissing a *picture*
of your main squeeze.
Alas, that's all you can do.
