PowerPoint is not a full-fledged graphics program that you can do this sort
of stuff.  However, you can put another object over the first one, change
the line color to "No Line", and change the fill color to match your
background, then group all these objects into one when you are done.

If you have a serious drawing program like Illustrator or Corel Draw, it'd be
best to do it there, then bring the result into PPT.
