when emailing a presentation, how do I set it up so when opened by the
recipient the presentation starts immediately

Save it as a PowerPoint Show (*.pps) by either choosing that option when
selecting Save As from the File menu or by change the .ppt extension to
.pps.

File > Save As > PowerPoint Show. Or change the file extension from .ppt to
.pps
Then attach to your email.
