Import Converter HELP

I recently installed Office Pro 2003. While using PowerPoint, I tried to
import an outline from Word. A pop-up said that Widows installer would have
to install an import converter. I clicked OK, and was then prompted to
insert CD ROM disc 2 Office Premier 2000? Can anybody tell me why, and how
to fix this, as well as get this "import converter"?

When you go to Insert|Slides from Outline and navigate to your file, what
have you chosen in the "files of type" box, and what is the extension on
your outline file?

Is the message really asking for an Office 2000 disk, even though you're
using Office 2003?

I had already chosen Title and Text slides and the layout. I clicked open,
chose an outline in a Word file (.doc), then the installer tried to install
the import converter. Yes, the message really asked for the 2000 disc even
though I am using 2003. I now believe the root of my problem is something to
do with Windows Installer package.

Okay, try going to Insert|Slides form Outline instead of using Open and
choosing the Word document. You shouldn't need a converter when you use the
Insert method.

Just tried it....same result. Initial pop-up says "Microsoft Office
Powerpoint needs a converter to display this file correctly. This feature is
not currently installed. Would you like to install it now?" I click Yes, and
the installer starts then stops 1/4 of the way through. Then I get the
message "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable
disk that is not available. Insert the Microsoft Office 2000 Disc 2 and
click OK." When I cancel out of everything I then get Error 1706.

Appreciate your help.

Oh, man, I'm really bad with installation errors. What happens if you click
OK instead of canceling out of everything? Do you have an Office 2000 disc
you can put in there to see if that resolves it?

I suspect your suspicion about the Windows Installer is on the money. See

Echo S,
Thanks for your support. Really appreciate someone trying to help. Wanted
to let you know my main problem is resolved. Like a fool, I tried all the
"hard" stuff first. I assumed that the Office 2003 would overwrite ALL other
version files and folders. I uninstalled Office 2000 disc 2 and Office
Premier 2000 programs, and surprise, all is now working.....so far.... The
only APPARENT unresolved issue now is the loss of my address book in OE since
the installation. Thanks again.
