I have just started to use my educational version of power point and most of
the useful features are greyed out and are unavailable.  For example I can
load a presentation but I cant add new slides nor can I insert anything in to
slides.

The product details are Powerpoint 2003, part of microsoft office standard
edition version 11.5529.5606.

Did you activate your copy of PPT?

I tried to delte and re install but still when i click on activate nothing
happens.  What should happen I presume an internet connection is required and
that is working OK.  Thanks for the quick reply by the way/

Ok - Let's look at this from another angle. Do the other Office Standard
applications (Word or Excel) allow you to create and save new documents?

Is it your own presentation or did you try this with someone else's
presentation?  If the latter, it could be password-protected and thus not
editable.  Please try the same with a blank presentation.

Best regards,
Ute

Okay, then it sounds as if you do need to activate it.

Are you trying to activate a trial version of Office? Many computers come
with a trial version installed, and it expires after oh, 50 uses, I think it
is. After that, you have to purchase Office if you want to continue to use
it.

If you did purchase Office and are not seeing the number to call to
activate, see
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=326851 for more info
