Assuming you have xp or 2003 then open the picture toolbar and click compress
pictures using the web/screen display option.

Hi John
me again. With you guidance I have asked the help for the Picture Toolbar
and it told me to open it from View/ Toolbars. I have and i can see what you
are saying and i have done this compression successfully. Thanks

Hello there!
Mine is 2003 but the "Picture" shown at the Insert/Toobar instead of View,
where I can find the make the compression? Anyone can help?

You have to turn on the picture toolbar to get the tool. View | Toolbars,
choose Picture. After that, you can hover your mouse over each button on
that toolbar until you find the Compress Pictures icon.

You can also double-click any picture to summon the Format Picture dialog
box -- you'll find the Compress button in the Picture tab of this dialog

Thanks to All of you. I have used the tools that Steve suggested and it is
great just what I needed. I am exploring the other tools as well as i was
unaware of the wealth of stuff available to me. Thanks again
