Sorry, I wasn't clear. While looking at the last slide, go to the slide
show menu and choose Slide Transition. Under "Advance Slide" check "On
mouse click" and uncheck "Automatically after ..." That should not effect
the animations, just the slide going on to the next slide (which in this
case is the end-of-show black slide).

Thanks for your help. I may have another setting wrong. When I change it to
"mouse-click", I have to click for each animation to run. If I change it to
"automatic", the slide ends abruptly with the black screen. I thought up
another solution. I just duplicated my last page, took all the animations
off, & set that page to "mouse-click". Now I have the result I want.

You may need also to go to slide show>custom animation and change the
settings from "on click" to after previous"

Great! Your solution of duplicating the last slide is probably the
easiest (especially since you have already done it:-). The alternative is
to set your animations to happen "After Previous" and then set a delay
time under the timing. This seems like more work than what you have
already done.
