Everything was fine, but needed to do a reboot, now the same movies won't
play in Powerpoint but will at the same time play in Windows Media Player

powerpoint uses mplay32.exe to play movies.

Try your movie in this (run > mplay32.exe)
Try also putting the movies in the same folder as presentation and re
inserting

Reinstalling the latest version of media player might reset any changes

John, thanks for the quick response!

In sounds like you have it.

Again, I am using PowerPoint 2003 & Windows Media Player 10.
The movie plays in WMP but not in PowerPoint.

Can you give the steps for making this adjustment.

How about a tutorial to help you sort it out?

Thanks Austin and John,

I seem to have a CODEC problem.

Does Microsoft have a trusted resource for downloading what's needed or a
package?

As suggested in the tutorial, I would download Windows Media Player and
re-install it.

Actually, I have dowloaded and reinstalled WMP 10.

Now What?

I suspect then that you are missing a needed codec.  You can either identify
what codec is needed (with GSpot) and install it on your machine and any
machine you may want to distribute it to, or you can convert it to a
standard Windows format.
