I'm using PPT 2003. When I put a text box on a slide, the text has a default
hanging indent. I've tried dragging the thingy in the ruler to set the
margin flush left, but the text ignores the margin and keeps the hanging
indent. The slide master has multiple margin markers, seemingly for the
several "styles" in the text box. Can anyone help?

Did you mark the existing text before dragging the grey marker?
