I have a large amount of pictures I want to load into a slideshow. I was
wondering if there was a way that I can do this automatically. It does not
matter if they are the background of the slide or an object in the slide. If
anyone has some advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Assuming you're in PowerPoint 2003, go to file, new, Photoalbum. Point it to
the location of your pictures and away you go.
