Right-click the axis and choose Clear. If you're using a 3D chart, you'll
need to do that for the walls and gridlines, too.

Thanks for the quick response. Clear helped, but I also needed the "tick
Mark labels" hidden. I eventually found that setting on the Patterns tab of
the Format Axis dialog.
