like Datapoint does. it needs to refresh as i save it.

Wayne,
DataPoint also connects to excel files, not only databases. You specify
the excel range you want to link to and start using its contents on the
slides as text shapes, charts or tables.
After you have saved your xls, datapoint will refresh the excel content
automatically.

Kurt

How about if it updates each time the slide is viewed?

I've done this without any code or add ins by:

1. Create a single slide presentation with the data you want.
2. Set it to update automatically.
3. Save the presentation.
4. Now open your full presentation and insert (as an object) the single
slide presenation.  NOT the slide, the ENTIRE presentation.  (It just
happens to be a single slide presenation here.)
5. You will now have an icon on you slide that is an image of the inserted
presenation.  Size and place as desired.

Your done.  Run your full presenation.  When you click on the icon for he
inserted presentation it will fire off, update itself, and display the data.

Each time you fire off this single slide presentation it will automatically
update the data without your needing to reload the full presenation.
