Disappearing menu - 27 Jun 2006 04:19 GMT
I opened Powerpoint on my merry way to start writing a new presentation...the
sub menus for slide layout and slide design will open but they are blank.  If
I drag the cursor over them, a text box will appear and say what they are and
a border will appear where they should be.  Color schemes, animations, etc.
all still work and are visible.

What is going on?

More importantly, how do I fix it?

Try exiting Powerpoint and rebooting your computer.  Shut it down completely,
then turn it back on again.  A lot of times when MS (anything) gets 'stuck'
a reboot will clear the cobwebs.  This is especially true if you tend to put
your computer on standby or leave it running rather than turning it off.
Wont hurt to use the Disk Cleanup and Defragmenter while you're at it.

If that doesn't work, Norton Utilities or a similar program might be able to
find and repair whatever is wrong.  In the worst case, you may have to
re-load your application.

Sometimes (not always!) clearing  the TEMP file helps. Its most likely at:

Documents & settings/your name/ local settings/TEMP

Report back because we need all the info we can get!
