I am working on a presentation.  I have multiple text boxes on a slide.  I
currently have them set to appear in on a diamond, but I need to make one
text box exit before I can make another appear.  So far I cannot get this to
work.  Can anyone help...Fast?

What PowerPoint version are you using?
On PowerPoint 2002/XP and 2003, you can add exit effects and then do some
re-ordering. For PowerPoint 2000 and below, AFAIK, you probably need to do
some workaround to get the textbox to 'disappear".

I am using power point 2003.  Currently my problem is that When I select
shape 5, for example, and change animation to exit, it removes the enterance
animation I already created.  How can I keep the enterance animation and then
add the exit animation?

You are clicking on the current animation in the Animation Pane, which makes
the action button "CHANGE." Click the text box, the animation will be
highlighted (which is different than selected) and the action button now
says "ADD EFFECT." With the "add effect" action button add the exit
animation.

What Troy said.
So, the order is something like this:
Entrance effect: Picture 1 (On click)
Exit effect: Picture 1 (On click)
Entrance effect: Picture 2 (On click) //This can also be Start: With
Previous so that when picture 1 exit, picture 2 will enter at the same time.
Exit effect: Picture 2 (On click)

For anyone following who might be confused, see

changing animation).
