Something special about the "number area" in the master?

Hi,

(a) I **insert** all different formats of images into the three placeholders
of the footer in the master respectively.

Result:  I see all of them as I expect in normal view.  No problem.

(b)  I apply the same picture to the three placeholders of the footer in the
master.  This time I do format>placeholder>color>fill effects>picture.

Result:  I see all three placeholders filled with the same picture in
**master** view.  But, I only see **two** pictures in **normal view**
because the "number area" placeholder is **not** filled with the picture.

(c)  Same as (b), except that I move the "date/time" placeholder on the left
away from the footer and move the "number area" placeholder to the very left
to take the original place of the "date/time" placeholder.

Result:  Exactly the same result as stated above under (b).  In other words,
"number area" placeholder is blank in **normal** view regardless of where I
place it, if I use the "format placeholder" method.

Wonder what is happening here.  Appreciate advice.

Hi Epinn - been on holiday?

My guess is in view > headers and footers you have slide numbering turned off!

Did that answer the question / help?

Hi John,

Bang on!  The reason I didn't even think of that was because it **worked**
when I used the **insert** method i.e. (a).  So, there is quite a difference
between inserting a picture to and formatting a placeholder of the footer in
the master.

I was reading the thread on "rotated text in slide master title" and I
realized that you talked about "format placeholder>TEXTBOX...." while the
user talked about "format placeholder>SIZE......"  If it was TEXTBOX, then
the rotation feature was not grayed out regardless.  I have no clue about
textbox, size, rotation and I know if I explore some more, I'll learn
something.

By the way, thank you for telling another user how to do the "arrow flow"
using wipe.  I had so much fun trying it your way and the motion path
method.

So you see, I wasn't on holiday.  I just tried to live up to my promise to
give the MVP's a break.  You know it was **hard** for me to refrain from
posting.  It wasn't a complete blackout.  I did have two posts last week but
just comments and I held back questions.  I'll **try** to slow down here as
I have other applications to learn as well.

Cheers,

Epinn
