I was able to insert a WMA file into my presentation using the insert movie
command. I have it set to begin on click, and continue for a number of
slides. While it's playing, is there any way to pause the audio file and
then restart it as desired?

This is fairly difficult as you are playing the music across slides.
You could play  the music separately in Windows Media Player "mini mode"
(just a toolbar on the task bar) under the powerpoint. The toolbar can be
accessed with ctrl T to pause / restart the music at will

Did that answer the question / help?

Thanks - that may be preferable.
