I need to play MPEG-2 videos in PowerPoint. I would like to know which
decoders work. I know Elecard Moonlight works but the company is outside the
USA. I am stuck buying USA products because I work for the US Government.
Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks,
Hope to see some of you at PPT Live in Sept....

Mike,
The Mpeg-2 codec is really the decoder used to play DVDs. As you say it
does NOT come with Windows and you need to buy it. I like PowerDVD myself.

Yep, That would be fine and dandy but I misplaced my PowerDVD XP v4.0 key
code. Just wanted to check if there were other options before I rebuy. Do
you know if the next version of PowerPoint is going to support DirectShow?

Direct show is fully supported, but you still need the decoder. <g>

MS has a utility to test the DVD decoder compatibility. You can download it
from:

Give it a whirl and see what it tells you.

Be careful what you wish for. Some of us aren't as pretty in person as we are
in type. ;-)
But we'll let you be the judge of that, eh? Stop by the help center and say hi!
