How do I preview fonts in the font drop down list?  I am running PPT 97.  I
know I used to be able to click the drop down and all the fonts showed up in
preview format but now, they all look the same and I have to continue to
change fonts in my slide to see what they truly look like.

any help would be MOST appreciated!

Thanks

It is in 97.  I couldn't afford the $300 that Dell wanted for MS Office
Professional so I installed my older version when I got the PC.

Try this:

Choose Tools, Customize
On the Options tab of the Customize dialog box, put a check next to "List font
names in their font"

(this is taken from PPT2000, but to the best of my recollection, it works the
same in PPT97)

Make sure you have a printer driver installed and set as the default printer
(it should be a local printer driver, not one installed on a network computer).

What printer driver is it?

Quit PPT and power down the PC for five minutes or so.  Restart.  Sometimes
that fixes odd ones like this.

I have my default printer set and the printer driver is listed as "Lexmark
z25-z35".  I have tried shutting down and rebooting numerous times.  I'm
beginning to think my version of PPT is just OLD.

I've got a machine with 97 on it and as it turns out, it doesn't have the font
preview feature.  What you *can* do is choose some text, choose Format, Font,
select a new font/size/etc and click Preview to see the effect.

Have you tried FontGlancer? It's a good and simple little program (not
a PPT add-in), but it contains a most useful feature: type in your text
and you can preview that text in every font on your Windows-based PC.

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/fontglancer.html

And it's free.

Hope this helps,
Tony
