I need to get rid of the translucent arrows at the left bottom of PPt slide
w/o getting rid of the pointer? Any suggestions?

Tools > Options > View > Untick "show pop up toolbar"

This removes the whole toolbar. If by "keep pointer" you mean remove the two
arrows and retain the "pointer options" icon then this cannot be done. You
can get pointer options by right clicking during a show.

Did that answer the question / help?
