How do I shaddow a picture/text in Powerpoint

Hi, I was just wanting to know how to shaddow a pic/text so the shaddow comes
out blurey at the back of the pic text and not a straight forward shaddow?

Easiest way is to use add-in:

So this can not be done without having to pay for extra features?

Check out the Troy's links I have posted earlier on. It shows you how to
create a shadow with soft edges. This only works well with circle though.
A good news here. PowerPoint 2007 will allow you to have more control over
editing, such as adding reflection, soft edges, etc. It is currently in its
beta stage.
