I am using Powerpoint 2003 to try to animate a visual effect.  I want to have
a line move in such a way that one end of the line remains stationary, while
the other end moves to a different location, with the line in between
stretched or compressed accordingly.  Every motion path I try has the entire
line move.  Is it possible for me to animate this effect?  Thanks.

Check this tutorial out:

Similar to the pendulum, group the two lines together. But instead of using
spin effect, use emphasis > grow/shrink. Have it grow in horizontal direction
and your line will look like expanding on one end, while stationary on the
other end.
Is that what you want?
