I have just arrived in the British Virgin Islands from the UK to take up new
employment in education.  Much work was prepared in the UK using a legitimate
Office 2000 Professional Powerpoint 2000.  The government college where I am
now employed uses Office 2003 from the USA.

I find I cannot open my Powerpoint 2000 documents correctly in Powerpoint 2003
In PPT my slide show has incurred blank slides, animation has altered and
words are not complete/separated.  Upon trying to open another ppt file I get
the message:- PowerPoint can't read.........C\:........xxxxxxx.ppt.  Upon
opening the help tab I find

"PowerPoint can't read this file

The file you tried to open may not be a Microsoft Office PowerPoint file
(.ppt). Check the original file to determine the file type. You may be able
to edit the file in a program designed to use that file type."

Files originally created on a Sony VGN-2XP.

Please help, I am desperate as many hours of work have gone into my files.

Update the PowerPoint 2003 to the latest service pack. To do so, start
PowerPoint 2003, click Help > Check for Updates. Once you are done with the
updates, see if it works.
