First make sure you have installed it, search for pptview.exe.

If its there report back what happens when you try to open a presentation.

It is showing in my hard drive and it shows it in my file folder but I still
keep getting an error message that says - The file does not have a program
associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the
Folder options control panel.--  Any suggestions( I have already uninstalled
and reinstalled it several times-with no luck)

Are you trying to open from within email?

Can't open attached presentations from within Outlook Express after applying
Windows XP SP2
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00657.htm

If it's really just a file associations issue, see

Changing a File Association, Repairing broken File Associations
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00355.htm

Finally, are you sure you're trying to open a PowerPoint file (that is, a
PPT or PPS file)?
