For me there's a happy medium.
Have presenter view notes but make them just main points so you dont miss
things out. NEVER just read ANYTHING when presenting!
Always have a back up plan (paper notes / OHP slides / flip chart whatever)

Dear all,
I have paper copies, cue cards, memory sticks and CDS all as backup media.
