I am trying to create a CD using the "Package for CD" fetaure but get a
series of error messages that PowerPoint couldn't process the linked file
E:\. . .
for a series of documents that I think are simply internal links to other
parts of the presentation. . .

Is your E drive a network or CD or jump drive or something? Sounds to me as
if you linked to files from a different drive, and sometimes PPT has trouble
with those.

In order to troubleshoot it, you're going to have to figure out what the
package for CD is looking for.

Check your File, Document Properties ... if there's a value assigned to
Hyperlink Base, delete it, save the presentation to a new name and try again.
