Hi,

I am trying to insert avi files into powerpoint. The files are screen
captures of software captured in SnagIt and are high quality but they are
very low quality when they play in powerpoint.  The videos show perfectly in
realplayer and are the same size as needed (I am not scaling them in
powerpoint) but they become very grainy with very bad text quality in their
drop-down boxes etc..

Any clues would be greatly appreciated

I should add, the capture is on a PC set at 1280 x 800 and I am using
Powerpoint 2003

The codec used by SnagIt for video capture is less than fully compatible
with the MCI media player used by PowerPoint.  I think you are going to need
to convert it to something a little more compatible with PowerPoint.  There
are a number of video editing applications avaiable to do this or you might
consider using PFCMedia to automate the entire process from within
PowerPoint.
