Unfortunately, current versions of PPT do not allow us to add placeholders.
PPT 2007 does have this feature, though. (I'm excited!)

The only way I know is to create 'ready made slides'.
The user can then just 'duplicate' these slides and then edit the text as
needed.
That way you can include any pointers as to what text to enter in each box
you make
