In powerpoint, when I go to the design button to apply a design to the slides
I receive an error that states I cannot access the area because it is not
currently installed.  The error says installer error 1605.  How can I fix
this or get around it so that I can apply the different designs to my slide
presentation?

Ther's some stuff here (pretty scary though)

If youre going down the reinstall office line you might want to download the
windows installer cleanup tool and run that first.
