in PPT 2000, there was a notes pane view on the bottom left where the display
or "view" buttons are - it's not there in 2003? Anyone know how to make it
show up?

No, but you can kindasorta get close ...
Choose Tools, Customize
Choose the Commands tab
In the list on the left, choose View
In the list on the right, locate Notes Page
Click and drag it to any toolbar you like (you could put it to the left of
autoshapes on the Draw toolbar for example.
Close the Customize dialog box.
Now you've got a handy Notes Page button to click.

The Notes View icon was removed from the lower-left corner in PPT 2003. The
only way to get to it is through View>Notes Page.

thanks all for your confirmation of what I already thought might be the case
...not sure what the benefit was of removing it ... but it's their program!
