I created a 4x3 cell table in PPT 2003. A shadow automatically showed up
behind the table. How can I get the shadow to go away (the 3d or Shadow
Styles are not on)...

Try this
Insert an autoshape (say a rectangle it doesnt matter what)
Make sure that shadow / 3D settings are not applied to it and then right
click and choose "set autoshape defaults"
Now try the table again
