I have installed and played these video files in my 2003 Powerpoint. I
installed and removed some free software and now I cannot play any video
files in powerpoint. The video files play fine in windows media player, just
not in powerpoint.

When inserting the file I get a green box that covers a quarter of the
screen in the upper left hand part. It is also visible in the slide menu and
now powerpoint is locked and must be three finger exited.

If I run the files that use to run, I get the same problem, on using the
three finger exit - I see the video file running in the backgroung (in mdeia
not powerpoint) before it exits and on exiting it comes back to a working
powerpoint.

I ran the office 2003 repair porgramme

I have reinstalled Windows Media Payer - version 11
Windows Media Encorder version9
My DirectX version is up to date.

I tried installing PFCMedia - and on its add media file I just see the green
box in the test screen.

I really need help as I use a large number of videos in my presentations and
would be very gratiful for any ideas.

Reading though some of the other entries on the site - I saw that reducing
the hardware acceleration could fix the problem - so I turned in down one
klick - no joy, I tried another klick no joy - so I give up and posted this
question.

I then thought what if I just put it to the minimum setting - and the
problem is gone!!

So I am posting my own solution so I don't waste your precious time!!

Thanks
