I am sending outlined text from Word 2003 to PowerPoint 2003 via Word's "Send
To" command.  The text is formatted in Word using H1, H2, and H3 headings
respectively.  In addition, some of the H2 text is formatted BOLD, or
underlined, or plain.  The text arrives in PowerPoint looking flawless.  That
is, slides are in order and the text is bold, underline and plain exactly as
it appeared in Word.  However, if I apply **ANY** Design Template, each
slide's bold text becomes unbold and each slide's unbold text becomes bold.

I have tried everything that I can think of to remedy this problem and
absolutely nothing has been successful.  I would appreciate any help.  Thanks.

You can add the bold and underline attributes to the appropriate text levels
in the placeholder on the slide master.

Doing any formatting in Word really isn't advisable, because it does work as
you've described -- applying the slide layout in PPT apples the attributes
from that layout/design template/slide master, and if those attributes don't
include bold or underline, then those options don't get applied. I consider
the formatting that comes over from Word ephemeral at best.
