MS Office Forum / General PowerPoint Questions / September 2006Hyperlinks won't operate on some computers
My presentation has been published on a CD-ROM as a .pps file. It contains hyperlinks from Slides 3-14 back to "Slide 2". These links work fine on some computers, but not others. In the latter case, I'm told that when the presentation is opened for editing, every hyperlink has somehow changed to read "#0. Slide 0". Is it something I could have avoided when saving the PPS file, or something that can be rectified by the user (without editing every single hyperlink), or both? Steve, There is a limited storage capacity for storing information about these links. Around 64k in older versions of PowerPoint. And this space is also used by PowerPoint internally to store additional info. It's possible that all the linking is filing up this space and causing the unexpected behavior on some machines. If you go here http://www.rdpslides.com/pptools/downloads.htm and download the demo of fixlinks , run a report and it will tell you the approx memory used by links. I doubt you have any thing like 32K from your description unless you have very long titles.
