My cousin scanned a bunch of old photos in order to make a powerpoint
slideshow for our grandpa's 80th birthday.  All the pictures looked fine
in the Power Point design mode, however, when I pressed F5 to start the
show, none of the pictures showed up.  Of course, we discovered this 5
minutes before my cousin was supposed to the slide show.

It doesn't matter now, since I exported the whole thing via "Save for
Web..." and displayed the whole thing in Internet Explorer (without the
transitions of course).  But I am curious why it didn't work (since my
grandma's 80th is coming up).

I would suspect you need to update your video card driver.

I don't think so.  It was tried yesterday on 2 different laptops and
today, it was tried on a 3rd laptop at work.  Same result.

Yes, lappies do tend to be behind when it comes to video drivers.   Of
course there is an easy way to find out, install a newer driver. <g>  If
that fails try reducing your video hardware acceleration.

I've tried disabling the hardware accelleration and my drivers are
updated, but no luck.  I think you had a conversation regarding a
similar problem in 2001 with a different person:

The thing in common with that case is the HP scanner. Was there ever a
resolution to that problem?

Frank,

Can you send me one of the jpgs that fails to display properly?  I sure
would like to see what is happening with it.
