I have recently tested various video formats to see how they run in
powerpoint.  I find that although several types can run, the ONLY file
format that runs without "blinking" as it starts are .avi files.  I find
that mpeg and wmv files both blink as they start - that is, the first frame
appears (as in the sorter view) then the video blinks as it starts.  Has
anyone found anything different?  I sure would like to use mpegs, but cannot
adibe the blinking!

I find exactly the same. For me it helps to insert a windows media player
object from the control toolbox > more controls, stretch it to video size and
in right click properties > custom set the file name

Did that answer the question / help?
