How can I turn on "Resize AutoShape to Fit Text," when it's gray?

I'm working on an organization chart in Powerpoint 2003.  I need to resize
the text box & AutoShape to fit the text, not change the text to fit the
shape.  In other words, I need to enlarge the text box & auto shape on the
organization chart.  In the formatting area, for the AutoShape, the section
"Text Box:" There are three options shown, but the one I need, "Resize
AutoShape to Fit Text" is grayed out, and unclickable.  I NEED to make this
work.  Any ideas?  Is there something else that needs to be changed in order
to make that work?  I've already used Office 2003 help, and Office online
help, and can't seem to find an answer.

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Finish the org chart and then turn off Autolayout (under Layout). You can
then resize the autoshape. Don't turn Autolayout on again or you may lose
formatting. Hope this helps.

If you want a non standard org chart sometimes its a lot easier to just draw
it from scratch using rounded rectangles and connectors.
