I am inserting a slide show to an email.  How can I make it start
automatically when the user clicks on it?

Go to "Save as" and then in "save as type" scroll down till you find
powerpoint show *.pps

which of course will only work if the recipient has PowerPoint or the
PowerPoint viewer on their system.
