I am trying to record a narration with the microphone in PowerPoint and I am
getting a poor quality voice playback.  Any suggestiosn?

If its not just a poor quality mike you might want to try the change quality
button (maybe 48000kHz 16bit mono)

Make your recordings outside of PowerPoint. It is known that recording from
within PowerPoint does not provide great results.
