I've built a PowerPoint 2003 Presentation with approx. 40 slides. I want to
print these with 9 slides per page for my review. I can select 9 slides per
page but I can't get the slide number of each slide to print, although I have
the slide number box check under the slide tab in the header and footer
dialog box. The slide tab on the left hand side shows the number of each
slide, and that's what I want to include when I print this for review. Please
advise

There are a few solutions, some poor, some great.  Draw your own conclusions
on which is which.

1) Print the slides in the 9-up handout the way you were printing them.
Then run them thru the printer a second time using a publisher (or other)
document to place the slide numbers on them.  This does work (I used this
method when I first started), but can run into problems if there is a
printer misdeed or hidden slides.

2) Use the page number in PowerPoint, but change the font size on the slide
master so that the number is visible on the 9-ups.  This allows for a single
pass printing, but requires you to change the presentation before and after
the printing.

3) Use HandOut Wizard (a PowerPoint add-in).  It can create 9-ups (or any
other formatting) that will blow your socks off, including both slide
numbers and slide titles.  Check it out at http://skp.mvps.org/how/ .  (In
case you can not tell, I strongly recommend using this option.)
