Does anyone know if a magazine in the past load to its gift-CD/DVD a
version of OfficeFX ?

There is a free demo download available from the website you referenced.  I
would suggest using that download.  I'm sure that any version released on a
CD would have the same demo versioning, but you could always contact the
folks over at Instant Effects.  They have been very helpful and their
product is a real eye-popper.
