I have a presentation with 9 slides, each slide consists of 1 full-screen
picture. There are no animations or effects. When I play the slide show, the
mouse click first reveals the background, and then the next slide. I do not
want to see the background; I want it to got from one picture slide directly
to the next. I have applied "No Transition" to each slide. How do I avoid
seeing the background when I view the slide show?
Thank you in advance!

My guess is that the animations on the pictures have been set to happen on a
click instead of one of the timed methods. You can check that by doing Slide
Show---> Custom Animation.

(If you need more details on changing the timing of your animations, let us
know your PPT version.)
